"NBI were very good at the design stage and suggested several good ideas that helped to provide neat solutions to details that could have detracted from the overall scheme."
De La Rue is a high security firm specialising in print production of banknotes and passports, and we have previously been successfully commissioned to update other areas of their buildings. Many areas of the building have yet to refreshed in 20 years and we were briefed to update both the Main Gate and Finishing areas. As De La Rue is often required to tender for projects, part of their proposal needs to ensure that the buildings that they operate in meet critical security standards. Consequently, it’s vital that these areas meet high standards of both excellence and security.
As their main entrance, it’s vital that De La Rue’s Main Gate makes an excellent impression on all visitors who often travel from areas across the globe. A thorough refit was also required in their Finishing entrance area. As part of our design for both of these areas, the project included refitting new suspended ceilings and partitions, new joinery, new Karndean flooring and barrier safety flooring. De La Rue had requested that these areas became modern and welcoming; a reflection on the company’s professionalism and excellence.
The main entrance also required a new front counter to greet visitors which required both cladding and new lighting that would successfully complement the entrance area. De La Rue had also introduced new branding which meant that we were required to update their signage to complement the new design. The extensive project also included refurbished WCs, bespoke lockers, lighting and ceiling heaters. The finishing area also required security turnstiles to be carefully repositioned.
For De La Rue, it was vital that their business functions were able to continue as normal with minimal inconvenience to staff during the build and fit-out. This was particularly essential at the Main Gate where the project was completed in four weeks whilst the business was still in operation. Developing the finishing area also meant that De La Rue was able to successfully ensure that they retained their security accreditation; essential for them as part of their ongoing tender process.
